4.0 out of 5 stars Great buy for the price!, July 14, 2011
This review is from: Denon AVR-1612 5.1 Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver (Electronics)
I also bought this product at best buy for $300. What an amazing product for the price! Paired with some Klipsch HDT speakers, you can't go wrong if you are looking to do a low budget theater. The audyssey calibration is great. It is by no means comparable to adaptIQ from Bose (I also have a lifestyle system), but again it's 300 bucks compared to 4k so my impressions are amazing. One thing that annoys me is that when you change speaker levels and modify you audyssey setup, it does not save the levels so it reverts to the configure setup after power cycling. That to me is annoying. I realize there is a manual setup but I want the auto setup and I want to be able to tweak it myself after it is setup. I do notice that it also balances tone (in other words if your playing a song with a lot of treble it will automatically balance it out based on your settings/calibration setup or vice versa with bass so you get an optimal listening experience.) Pretty nifty feature for a reasonably priced... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars AVR 1612 First Impressions, June 11, 2011
This review is from: Denon AVR-1612 5.1 Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver (Electronics)
My first impressions of the AVR 1612 are good. I think it's one of the best 5.1 Tuners for the price.
I've got mine hooked up to the Energy Take Classic 5.1 Surround setup, and it sounds great after using the Audyssey MultEQ auto setup to balance the speakers out.
I gave it 4 stars because I had a problem with the video dropping out on the first unit I bought. It worked 99% of the time, but I returned it anyway for fear that the problem would worsen over time. The new unit seems to be working fine and I also purchased a 2 year warranty just in case.
I'll update this review once I have time to test out the other features.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great receiver, July 11, 2011
This review is from: Denon AVR-1612 5.1 Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver (Electronics)
I recently purchased this and was amazed at the capability of this as well as the ease of using it. The auto calibration for the sound in the room works great. I was pleased to know that the remote also functions as a remote for other devices, which elminated me from having to buy a logitech remote. The remote however doesn't have the full functionality of the other device remotes, but does about 90% of what you would need it for.

I got this for just over $300 at BB, while it was on sale. I looked at many other receivers and even two individuals working there had this receiver. That tells me that they believe it is a great product. This item for the price will not disssapoint and has everything a person should need. If you need more functions and feature and capability with clarity, then you need to spend more. You are not going to get anything better in this price range.
